Aechmeas are native to Brazil.

Culture:
Aechmeas are adaptable to a wide range of conditions in cultivation. As they are saxicolous, terrestrial and epiphytic, Aechmeas easily grow over rocks or old timber logs in baskets or in the ground.

Description:
Aechmea is a rather large genus of mostly epiphytic plants of the bromeliad family. Aechmeas are grown for their handsome foliage, and attractive flowers.

Aechmea Fosters Favourite features a narrow rosette of glossy wine-red leaves and an inflorescence of a spike of coral-red pear-shaped berries with dark-blue flowers.
