Distribution & Habitat:
Chamaedorea cataractarum naturally occurs in Mexico, where it grows along rivers and creeks in the rainforests.

Culture:
This is a very popular palm, both for indoor use and outside. It likes a lightly shaded, moist position, altho it will take full sun if the water is kept up to it.

Description:
Chamaedorea cataractarum (earlier known as atrovirens), or commonly Cascade Palm grows to 2 metres tall and its shiny green leave make it a exceptional specimen for the understorey in a tropical setting.

Climate Zones:
Tropical to sub-tropical. However, in sheltered positions this palm might grow as far south as Sydney.
