Dypsis leptocheilos is endemic to Madagascar although it is not clear in what area it is precisely at home.
Culture:
The Redneck Palm is very popular in tropical and sub-tropical gardens. It prefers well draining soil which should be slightly acidic. Regular watering is very beneficial. Dypsis leptocheilos grows in full sun or light shade.
Description:
The Redneck Palm grows to about 10 metres in height with a very distinctive reddish brown crownshaft and a white waxy trunk. The leaves are up to 3 metres long and form a beautiful crown.
Climate Zones:
Should grow in tropical, sub-tropical and temperate areas and can withstand frost down to -2° C. for a short period of time.
