Distribution & Habitat:
Howea forsteriana originates from Lord Howe Island where it is widely distributed. It grow there along the coast line and also up on the mountain slopes.
Culture:
Kentia Palms prefer a lightly shaded position, with moist, well draining soil, in warm-temperate and sub-tropical areas. They will take full sun as an adult, but they usually look a bit untidy compared to those in a more sheltered location.
Kentia Palms make an exceptional choice for indoor decorations.
Description:
The Kentia Palm is a very gracefull, solitary, medium sized palm which originates from Lord Howe Island. It grows to about 10m tall and has beautifully drooping, dark green leaflets, and an attractive brown hessian-like thatch around the leaf bases.
Climate Zones:
Kentias grow well in sub-tropical and temperate areas but not as good in the tropics.
