Distribution & Habitat:
The Yellow Latan Palm is native to the Mascarene Island of Rodriguez where it grows in coastal ravines and cliffs. Unfortunately, it is now almost extinct in its natural habitat.
Culture:
The Yellow Latan Palm grows well in full sun and likes a well draining position. It requires regular watering.
Description:
Latania verschaffeltii is a large, solitary fan palm, with a distinctive yellow colouration to the leaves and petioles.
In its native habitat this solitary fan palm will grow to about 12 meters tall but probably not as tall in the garden.
Climate Zones:
This very hardy palm will grow in tropical, sub-tropical and temperate areas. It will take temperatures down to nearly freezing point for a short period of time.
