Distribution & Habitat:
Found in lowland coastal swamps throughout south-east Asia.
Description:
This is an almost unbelievably beautiful palm with a spectacular vivid red crownshaft. It is a medium sized clumping palm growing to about 6 metres tall.
Sealing Wax Palms are very popular in gardens and landscapes in North Queensland however, it is not often seen outside the tropics.
Culture and Climate Zones:
This palm is extremely cold sensitive and should not be exposed to temperatures below 15˚ C. If night temperatures would drop below 15° C. for only a short time the palm will probably survive this. But maybe it would slow down its growth.
