Distribution & Habitat:
Although the Wampi can be found in many Asian countries, it seems originally be from Thailand, where it is called som-ma-fai.

Culture:
The Wampi likes to grow in full sun and is suited for tropical, sub-tropical and warm temperate areas. It copes well with light frosts when established. The soil it is planted in should be fertile and free draining. Enrich soil with manure and compost.

Description:
The Wampi is a handsome evergreen fruit tree with grape-like brownish fruits which ripen in Summer. It is especially popular in South East Asian gardens because it can be eaten straight from the tree or used for making jam or dessert recipes. The fruits of the Wampi are a rich source of vitamin C.
Clausena lansium grows to about 6 metres high, with long, upward-slanting, flexible branches and a rough, grey-brown bark. It is a distant relative of citrus.
